Business visits and productive work are different

Meetings, negotiations and participation in business events may fit visitor status. A visit visa is not general permission to take employment or deliver technical services in Brazil. Review what the traveler will actually do, even when the trip is brief or the salary is paid abroad.

Check the passport and travel purpose

Entry requirements depend on nationality and the activity. Some travelers qualify for visa-free visits; others need a consular visit visa. The electronic visitor visa is available for travelers using Australian, Canadian or U.S. passports, as described in the official eVisa guidance. It is not an online application route for every nationality.

Visa validity, permitted stay per entry and the applicable annual limit are separate. Confirm the rules for the passport used and the permission recorded on entry; do not infer an unlimited stay from a multiple-entry visa.

Prepare evidence that matches the trip

• A valid travel document and the applicable visa or exemption.
• The invitation, meeting schedule or event details supporting the business purpose.
• The traveler’s role and the relationship between the foreign and Brazilian companies.
• Accommodation, onward travel and financial evidence where required by the current checklist.
• Additional documents requested by the responsible consular authority.

When a work assessment is needed

Installation, repair, regular operational duties, local employment or an executive appointment should be reviewed under the relevant work or residence rules. Calling the trip “business” does not change the nature of the activity.
